Insurer Of The Year

What's a Benefit Period?

A benefit period is the length of time we can pay you for any one period of accident, sickness or unemployment, although you can make Multiple Claims for the life of the policy. The Ant Insurance policy is offered with a 12 month benefit period.

Multiple Claims

You can make multiple claims for the life of this policy which will continue up to retirement age (60 yrs), your mortgage ends or you cancel it which ever come first. You can cancel the policy at any time with one month's notice and there are no penalty clauses.

A multiple claim is when you claim more than once on your insurance for accident, sickness or unemployment. However to make a mulitiple claim you must return to work for a period of time between claims. Please see below:

Accident and Sickness claims:

  • Once we have paid the maximum number of 12 monthly benefit payments, you must return to work for 6 months before you can claim incapacity for a condition unrelated to your 'most previous' claim.
  • If you return to work for less than 3 months and need to make a claim for the same condition, this will be treated as the same claim.

Unemployment claims:

  • Once we have paid the maximum number of 12 monthly benefit payments, you must return to work continuously for at least 6 months before you can make another claim for unemployment.
